Credit Check Policy
This Credit Check Policy explains how Capital Collaboration, LLC ("Capital Collab") and our lending partners handle credit inquiries during the business financing process.
Initial Application — No Hard Pull
When you submit your initial application through Capital Collab, we do not perform a hard credit inquiry. Your initial application is evaluated using the business and financial information you provide. This process does not affect your credit score.
Soft Credit Inquiries
To pre-qualify you for certain financing products and provide more accurate offer estimates, we or our partners may conduct a soft credit inquiry (also called a soft pull). Soft inquiries:
- Do not affect your credit score
- Are not visible to other lenders or creditors
- May appear on your personal credit report only to you
- Help us match you with appropriate financing options
Hard Credit Inquiries
If you choose to proceed with a specific financing offer and formally apply with a lending partner, that lender may conduct a hard credit inquiry (also called a hard pull). Hard inquiries:
- May temporarily reduce your credit score by a few points
- Are visible to other lenders and creditors
- Remain on your credit report for up to two years
- Are only performed with your explicit consent
You will always be notified before a hard credit inquiry is performed. No lending partner will pull your credit without your authorization.
Business Credit Reports
In addition to personal credit reports, lending partners may review your business credit reports from agencies such as Dun & Bradstreet, Experian Business, or Equifax Business. Business credit inquiries do not affect your personal credit score.
Multiple Inquiries
If you receive and explore offers from multiple lending partners, each lender may conduct its own credit inquiry. However, credit scoring models typically treat multiple inquiries for the same type of financing within a short window (usually 14–45 days) as a single inquiry for scoring purposes.
Your Authorization
By checking the authorization box on our application, you consent to Capital Collab and its lending partners obtaining and reviewing:
- Personal credit reports for all business owners listed on the application
- Business credit reports for the applicant business entity
- Bank account verification and financial history as needed
This authorization remains valid for the duration of the application process and any resulting financing relationship.
Protecting Your Credit
We take the following measures to minimize the impact on your credit:
- Using soft pulls wherever possible during the initial matching process
- Clearly communicating when a hard pull will be required
- Working to consolidate inquiries within rate-shopping windows
- Never sharing your credit information beyond what is necessary to process your application
